Home Home Home....Laundry and Sleep

Forgive me for not posting sooner that we are safely back. I hope the slideshow tool I added to the side works well. I took over 800 pictures and took about 80 of the best to put into this show for anyone who's interested. Sorry this has taken me a while to work out...some of the circuits in my brain needed resetting.

Quick reflections on Europe....
  • Their largest cup of coffee is smaller than our small
  • Nowhere could I find American newspapers...not even the NYTimes
  • Globalization really isn't reaching consumers anywhere
  • Do not take sleeping pills to reset your circadian rhythms
  • Moneybelt...not really practical
  • We were usually up and outside hours before most shops opened...everything closes by 6
  • Always say Bonjour to French people...apparently we offend them most by not saying hello
  • You can't walk on the grass in Paris
  • Never drive in Brussels
  • Rent a bike in Amsterdam
  • Brugge is an excellent place for young couples--the maps even have places to kiss on them
I can't much summarize how the whole excursion went, but I can say that being out of the office and away from my cell phone and laptop was a really great thing...I am so glad to be back now. I think I really wanted to hug the woman at McDonald's in the Minneapolis airport, simply because she spoke at length, but quickly in a thick midwestern accent. I think there were 3/4 days where every half hour I yelled (literally or in my head) "I'm so glad to be in America".

I got to watch the last 3 Grey's Anatomy episodes...that sums it all up right there.

Willie from building services told me I was glowing on Tuesday, then Sue from Marketing said I must be pregnant...not true in case she's had success in her rumor mill, but I do feel different--glad to be there again. Once jet lag wears off and I'm back to normal I look forward to the tasks ahead.

Thanks everyone for your comments and well wishes. This worked out pretty well in all.
